call me Gypsy

I'm not too sure but it is a gypsy who looks into a christal ball and tells your fortune, right? Well, call me a gypsy then. I've been having premonitions about the fashion year: 2011. The year inbetween the 'hit' year-2010 and the "end of the world" year-2012.

Every day I have been having a vision about wich trends will be repeating itself in 2011. This strikes me as strange, being an average fashionista-small-town-girl, I mean, you probabaly thinking who am I to dictate what trends will cast in 2011, but then again, I'm anything but average-though being from a small town, I have a huge heart and upsize of that imagination like you can't imagine. haha.

So here goes my list of fashion predictions for 2011:

polkadots

cats eye glasses

dungarees

eastern couture

frills/venetian style

Big hair, waves and middle paths

wide leg pants

wedge heels...and

ballet pumps (again, bleh)

p.s, my predictions could be right or wrong...it doesn't really matter, all I really care about 2011 fashion is that us fashionistas have something (super) decent to wear that suits and that when other's look at us they'd be like, "I can't imagine myself wearing that but she looks great in it"

I love the way we lie

Today I feel like shit and my heart's breaking just a little bit. Let me rephrase that, today i look like shit and my heart's breaking just a little bit. I'll never understand why, when You feel down, you dress down (or perhaps thats just me).I've been lied to in the same breath as well, "you so good to me"...you don't do that, it's just not right.

It's been a rather quiet day, except for my heart wailing. I'm feeling somewhat frastrated like a girl in a box, yeah, that's a perfect way to describe what I feel like...I think I need a sewing machine to relieve myself of the world and it's stress, note-not my stress-the world's stress.

But, have no fear, fashion is here to console;)

Just Because...

I am a "just because" kind of girl. Sometimes I do things, well...just because. Don't get me wrong, I do believe in doing things within reason each and every time but i have those odd moments where I feel like doing things for the f## of it. So how does this relate to fashion in any sense, well, my message is simple: when you feel like whatever it is that u feeling like wearing, just go with it.your heart never lies. You never know who might fall inlove with your outfit that day :)

I heart it all

As I write this, I sit and think about my favorite things and they all seem to be "collective". My shoe collection, bag collection and magazine collection spring to mind and I think that (besides my photo albums, ID book and blue-eyed niece)those three things and my niece above all, would probably be the first I save from a fire.

I love collecting stuff but it's starting to catch up with me since i Haven't any more space left in my room...and i am only due to moving to a bigger room when my brother decides to move out (in time). The point I am getting at is this: It's okay to collect stuff if you have the space for it and the time to get round to reading every magazine and wear every shoe or clothing. But all girls can account for this-when we love something, we love it and no one dares to change our mind about...if only someone could when it comes to the wrong choice in men but that's a story for another blog.

I try my best to clear my cupboard of unwanted items (of which i sometimes "wish back")and give to girls less fortunate than me. It's so fulfilling.

Had so much fun on the weekend with my favorite friend, Shauna (a.k.a by me as 'Shaunaloo' =)). Had my first illegal mini road trip with her to KFC all in the name of hotwings and ice cream. Needless to say we (both)made it home in one piece despite the rain, a learner driver (me) and men in black stalking my window just to say HI, I mean dounle yoo tee eff?

I absolutely love this ensemble below, it's a stunner. I would stop this girl and tell her just what i think of her =)

Beloved brasier tops are on my birthday wish list. They are classic, can be dressed up or down and sexy, fullstop. These look best on girls who have some womenly bits but be warned, they do fit tight.

Ill be wearing mine (below) with highwaist whatever and it really looks good with pencil skirts or harems

                                                            Traffic stopper outfit...love it!

I didn't go to church in this, slept in it instead. I'm odd, I know

I bought this vest over the weekend. I love crisp white vests and I would probably not stop buying them even though they're just white. I decided to sew this denim cut-out heart onto it (looking at this makes me reakise how badly I need a sewing machine and sewing classes eeek )

I love how this white vest compliments my boyfriend jeans.
(I am wearing this today)

Pussycat in Her Boots. This is Mel from the first year graphic design class. She's a sweetypie with quirky-cute style.Love these boots.

It's seriously cold for the beginning of summer and that's not cool. I love Winter weather but in Winter. That makes sense doesn't it? And since it's cold, we all have to dress accordingly.

So, I attended a wedding the past Saturday, and prior to the day, I got myself a black mini flare dress (think 50's style) to pair with knee high socks and round toe stilletto's but due to the weather, I had to change my outfit so instead, I opted for an 80's style  what i like to call a "power dress" (because of the bold shoulders), sheer dotty stockings and courts. I must admit, the ensemble did make me feel in charge...so intune with my personality. I did my statement red lip and that was pretty much it. I had to think quick, and I realised that dressing (for an occasion) calls for much planning but on the other hand, some of the most amazing ensembles I've ever laid my eyes on were put together in a jiffy, almost by accident. It's unpredictable, this thing called fashion but so is the weather?

My beloved ELLE magazine. Which girl on this fashionable earth doesn't love ELLE magazine?

Gone are the days of matching. I don't do the matching thing anymore. I know of people who match everything from head to toe. It's a no noooooooo. Matching your outfit could work though, don't get me wrong, but ofcourse the key is how and what you match. Full black always works but not in a goth kind of way. Make up should be kept subtle in that case. Full white (for the beach) looks easy but not to church. Always try to break a fully matched outfit with different colour accessories, nailcolour or lip colour. Full black (black top and skirt/trousers) looks good with a pop of colour like a red statement heel or a white clutch purse. The ensemble I've put together below are of different coloured pieces, different textures etc and that really adds interest to an outfit.

This couple I stumbled on in Cape town. I totally love how they complimented eachother. I especially love how the girl does vintage effortlessly.

Out of all the things in the fashion business; runway, fashion designers (locally and internationally), unique boutiques, I admire effortless style ensembled by ordinary people I see on the streets, in my home town, in other places, malls. If it makes me look twice there must be something about it that's extraordinary...
