Fashion is the team, Style is the star of the team.

iam not so much worried about what is 'in' or 'out' in the fashion world. What's 'in' fashion is not necessarily style and what's 'out' doesn't necessarily mean it can't be styled, you know? Style is in a league of its own, I say that because there are only a few who possess it. I see it as a talent and the word talent, defined by dictionary.com, is 'a special natural ability'. So you may pose the question, what is so special about style? I say EVERYTHING. What is so special about a talent I could ask? Again I say EVERYTHING. Case closed.

My loves right now: (note: not necessarily in fashion, in fashion YET and could be out of fashion and perhaps even long out of fashion...who cares)

Summer is all right with me

No shopping for what seems like a month (at least on my expense that is) makes Jill (fashionfool) a very dull girl. It's true, I become quite despondent if I see not just one, but a number of items I can't have, not because I cannot reach for items that are nonsensically hung on high rails, but because of a pair of boyfriend jeans (my ironically favourite pair to shop in) with holes in its pockets. Anybody say 'sad for days?'...but being the strong person I am, and when I say strong, I mean the person who can abstain from something (70% of the time by choice) for a long period of time, I am all right. I just don't want to think about what will happen when I emerge from this broke status...I'll leave that to your imagination.

I often discuss all my ideas with my mom; mostly the 'safest' person to deposit them with. We also spoke about, actually predicted, fashion for the next year and a bit. It's always so interesting to hear when she dwells down memory lane what they used to call certain trends back then. Funny to know, actually, but also interesting. She told me about how my gran (a seamstress) would tie-dye their dresses, create all kinds of fashions out of customer off-cuts and so on and so on.

In this post I have also included my faves at Paris Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2012 as well as my fave swimwear 2011/12.

Much love, and happy shopping!

Last but not least, Kate Moss ended the show for LOUIS VUITTON with this feathery cut-out number:pure love.

There is something about crochet and high waist vintage boy-leg style swimwear that gets me. Wouldn't mind any of these numbers below - also the current swimwear trends around the globe seen at NOOKIE, ROOPA PEMMARAJ,KOOEY AND LISA MARIE

in my head

So much has happened since my last post (which has been a good month or so ago). In a nutshell, I have felt the temptation of throwing in the towel, lost a lot of weight, have had to deal with a lot of criticism as a result, tasted the pressures of the fashion world, and haven't shopped to save myself from all of the above,it has been hectic but after it all, I have come out alive, and still as ready as ever to press on.

In one week alone I have discovered so much about what I can do and what I cannot. Much to my amazement, the former has overridden the latter.

This weekend started on a great fashion note with the annual Walter Sisulu University Fashion Show; an event showcasing student designers creative fashion works. My favorite (yes, I am being biased) designer of the lot, Athenkosi Mgudlwa of sugerteacoffie did a sterling job with his beautiful creations. I was lucky to have been right in the midst of the backstage madness to the ramp.
